No Self Survives a Conversation

It’s my new, favourite quote! Because in our work at Barefoot Facilitation Inc. we’re all about helping people to come together to engage in “conversations that count”. In other words, “conversations that matter” or that are meaningful.

You’ll see us facilitating group conversations, hosting training conversations or emceeing large event conversations. And they all have impact. That makes me proud!

And what have I learned over the years? SO much! There’s a book here waiting to be written. Or at least some well-crafted blog posts, right?

Yet in the simplest terms, I know that a true conversation is about the WE. Not about the ME. It’s about a dialogue versus a monologue. And It requires at least two people who are committed to and adept at:

✅ listening more that speaking
✅ allowing the silence to penetrate the space
✅ hearing the emotion behind the spoken words
✅ using body language to bridge a connection
✅ asking powerful questions

However, it’s more than a “checklist”. Surviving a conversation is complex. And effective communication between and among people takes skill and practice.
We can help with that. It’s what brings us JOY!

Are you planning to host a conversation in the coming months?
Are you looking to upskill your team to help them engage in conversations more confidently?

I’d love to have a conversation with you about your conversations at work. Email info@trybarefoot.com today and let’s schedule a date to share a virtual coffee together!
