17 Years Later and Still Barefoot(ish)

August 2025

Seventeen years ago, when I launched Barefoot Facilitation Inc., one of my very first rituals at the start of any session or speaking engagement was simple: I’d kick off my shoes.

It wasn’t just for comfort, it was intentional. A way to “get into character,” yes, but also to model the kind of space I wanted to create: open, grounded, and welcoming.

Then came the pandemic. Suddenly, two years of facilitating moved online, and my shoeless ritual was replaced by a new on-camera signature — a favourite pottery mug in hand.

It brought warmth, presence, and a sense of calm to virtual conversations when we all needed it most.

This new photo, captured beautifully by the talented Michelle Doucette, tells both sides of that story. It reflects how I aim to show up — comfortable and grounded, casual yet purposeful, always fully present.

It wasn’t just for comfort, it was intentional. A way If you’ve ever been part of a Barefoot Facilitation session, you know this isn’t just a quirky habit or a fashion choice.

From day one, I’ve leaned into showing up authentically — kicking off my shoes, sporting bold socks, and inviting real, human, intentional conversations.

Seventeen years later, I’m still barefoot(ish)… just with a few more stories to tell.
